2 – 8pm on Saturday 23 March 2024
The historic Pullens Estate in South East London has been used as a location in various feature films as well as numerous independent film projects. Join us on free a walking tour around the estate that offers a unique combination of fiction, fact and memory. We will visit some of the film locations, discover some of the history of the buildings and hear anecdotes from some of the residents.
This will be followed by a commemorative activity in Pullens Gardens where we will celebrate the efforts of the people who helped to save what remains of the estate from demolition in the mid 1980s and the counter culture that grew out of that, some of which remains to this day.
Anyone wishing to attend the commemorative activity in Pullens Gardens is invited to bring a small easily portable object to add to the spiral mandala we will be creating together. This could be a photocopy of a photograph (please don’t bring precious originals), or something from nature or maybe a small human made object or a fragment of something larger.
We will be screening two films, the Clapham Film Unit short film, The Pullenites and The King’s Speech.
